SATORP, ORPIC and Carbon Holdings to Present Major Projects at ME-TECH 2014.

The leading oil & gas conference & consulting company Euro Petroleum Consultants has announced the programme for ME-TECH 2014 - their annual Middle East Technology Forum, which will take place for the fourth time next February in the luxury surroundings of the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.

The conference has proved to be the essential meeting place for the Middle East Downstream Industry and an excellent platform to keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and key projects in this important region.

The Middle East Downstream Sector is facing numerous challenges including low margins, overcapacity and increasingly stringent quality environmental regulations as CO2 emission regulations and the role of technology companies is now more important than ever to look for ways to improve efficiency and process heavier, sourer crudes. Technology will help plant operators to improve margins, get ahead of the competition and expand their potential on this rapidly-changing market environment.

In the current reality, downstream industry professionals realise that deep knowledge, expertise and ability to be flexible are imperative for success. That is why specialised industry events such as ME-TECH are the preferred way for sharing ideas, exchanging practical advices/experience with their international colleagues, business partners and potential clients.

ME-TECH 2014 has a number of presentations by Oil & Gas Producers, which are expected to attract great interest.

  • SATORP will present details of its huge integrated project in Saudi Arabia.

  • ORPIC will present details of the Sohar Refinery Improvement Project, which will transform the sector in Oman.

  • Petrofac, the international oil and gas services provider, in a 50/50 joint venture with Korean based Daelim Industrial Co Ltd (Daelim) has been awarded the 36 month Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract by ORPIC at a contract value of US$2.1 billion.

  • Carbon Holdings will present the opportunities and challenges related to its ambitious refinery/naphtha cracker project in Egypt. Despite the recent troubles in Egypt, only last week Carbon Holdings and GE signed a $500 million agreement to provide technology and equity support to the greenfield naphtha cracker and olefins complex project in Ain Sokhna.

ME-TECH 2014 will focus on development trends, technology updates, optimization strategies and green technologies in the Refining and Petrochemicals sectors. The refining stream will cover technologies for production of green fuels, options for residue upgrading and optimisation technologies to maximise asset and technology performance.

The Petrochemicals Stream will focus on feedstock technologies and challenges, developments in petrochemical production technologies and optimisation technologies. There will then be a combined session on the very latest green technologies such as emissions controls and carbon capture.

There will be a number of presentations by Producers and NOCs, sharing the opportunities, challenges and successes related to some of the mega projects happening in the region plus look at key global market factors and their impact on the industrial development in the Gulf region, presented by Nexant and IHS.
