CRU’s Sulphur Conference and Exhibition 2015

By CRU Group

Sep 07, 2015

World’s leading event for the sulphur and sulphuric acid markets returns to Canada for the 31st annual meeting.

It’s an ideal platform for the global sulphur and acid community to connect, hear about the latest market trends and technological developments; and to take advantage of networking opportunities.

Sulphur 2015 features a detailed commercial and technical programme with 45 papers covering key market trends, supply and demand forecasts; as well as the latest technical innovations and process improvements to help engineers working in sulphur and sulphuric acid plants. Attendees will also have exclusive access to operators and producers and the opportunity to attend a pre-conference site visit and workshops.

The commercial programme, led by CRU analysts and including presentations from industry experts from Scotiabank, The Sulphur Institute, OCP and Devco, covers topics such as global outlooks for oil, gas, sulphur and acid, updates on Mosaic’s sulphur melter project and the dry cargo freight market.

Dr Peter Harrisson, Senior Consultant & Sulphur Team Leader, CRU, who will be presenting the outlook for the global sulphur market commented:

‘In 2015, the sulphur market has stabilised from the extreme swings in demand and prices which were witnessed in 2013 and 2014. Chinese buying behaviour has shifted from the large month-on-month swings of previous years to a more stable purchasing pattern. However, 2015 may just represent the calm before the storm; as some of the largest new supply projects have begun producing this year which brings the threat of the market moving into surplus. The key factor for determining the effect of surplus supply on prices will be how suppliers choose to manage the market.

Will Canadian sulphur stocks be built? What effect will lower oil prices have on the prospects for new supply projects and operating levels of existing capacity?’

As one of the leading technical events in the industry, Sulphur 2015 will also features a two day duel stream technical programme covering 30 papers on key topics including sulphur handling and recovery, metallurgical acid and sulphuric acid catalysts.

The event provides an excellent forum for technical staff from production companies to share operational experiences and best practice with their peers. The conference is also accompanied by a large scale exhibition featuring over 70 companies showcasing the latest technological solutions, engineering services and equipment.
