Reporting to the PEI Supervisor, the successful applicant will play an important role in the execution of SMC’s PEI Processes designed to ensure the safe and reliable operation of site equipment.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and maintaining the integrity of the pressure envelope of plant pressure vessels, piping and tanks.
  • Regular use of electronic database to document observations and data, perform regular assessment of equipment condition and determine future Inspection requirements.
  • Maintaining equipment hard-copy files and archived records.
  • Troubleshooting equipment corrosion observations.
  • Writing detailed and accurate Equipment Condition Histories and Corrective Action Inspection Requests.
  • Corrosion monitoring and applying corrective actions where appropriate.
  • Providing sound, technical, compliant Equipment Integrity advice and support to plant Operations, Maintenance and Projects Groups.
  • Performing Quality Control and Quality Assurance functions related to Pressure Equipment design, fabrication, testing, installation and repair.
  • Organizing NDT surveys and coordinating execution of routine and emergency NDT.
  • Monitor in-service pressure vessel repairs and alterations.
  • Minor and Routine Maintenance activity support including quality assurance.
  • Major Maintenance and Projects support including auditing and assurance.
  • Ontario TSSA liaison to ensure compliance to jurisdictional regulations.
  • Support and complete Risk Based Inspection (RBI) assessment actions.
  • General involvement with Root Cause Analysis.
  • Assessment of the need for, and results of detailed Failure Analysis.
  • Verification of assessments completed by third-party inspectors.
  • Active participation, engagement and leadership within site Production Teams.
  • Accurate and thorough monthly reporting of key EI metrics to Shell Downstream-One.
  • Maintenance of an electronic Equipment Degradation Log.
  • Management of Change (MOC) review and approval.
  • Turnaround worklist preparation based on fact driven, risk based analysis and compliant to Shell and legislative codes and standards.
  • Turnaround leadership with a dedicated PEI Team including scope analysis, scope challenges and execution.
  • Equipment Integrity assurance, long-term planning and full participation in the Asset Management Review process.
  • Use of electronic database to document and prioritize site equipment integrity threats.
  • Writing detailed proposals to support upgrades or replacements necessary to maintain safety and reliability of site Pressure Equipment.
