Reporting to the shift supervisor, you will be a member of an operating crew that safely monitors all processes and equipment within the assigned process unit.

  • Respond to emergencies, ensuring that established procedures are followed
  • Perform routine operating tasks, such as monitoring levels, temperatures and pressures
  • Monitor operating area for abnormal mechanical or process-related conditions
  • Perform basic troubleshooting
  • Assist in preparation of equipment for maintenance
  • Write work notifications for equipment and unit repairs
  • Perform housekeeping duties and operational maintenance as assigned
  • Perform product sampling as required

Required Qualifications

  • Chemical engineering technology diploma or equivalent qualification and/or work experience
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • Mechanical aptitude to allow hands-on operation of plant equipment, including pumps, compressors and heaters
  • Deep understanding of workplace hazardous materials information systems (WHMIS) and occupational health and safety (OH&S) regulations
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills

Working Conditions

  • This position has been identified as being safety sensitive
  • It is a requirement to successfully complete industrial firefighter first responder training and successfully complete the area's progression training curriculum
  • The shift schedule is a four days on/five days off/five days on/four days off/five days on/five days off days off rotation (12-hour shifts)
  • Some heavy lifting, use of ladders and working on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers
  • Able to perform work different environments, both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
  • Comfortable using a self-contained breathing apparatus
