Do you have strong planning and scheduling experience? Do you take pride in building positive relationships? Reporting to the lead planner, Firebag, you will plan and schedule well-defined and executable work scopes for turnaround and business unit projects, which will be executed at various in-situ locations throughout the Wood Buffalo region. 

  • Promote safe working practices in all production and scheduling activities, and follow the set work breakdown structure in the creation of all turnaround schedules
  • Collaborate with turnaround, maintenance and operations to determine the critical-path items and the important turnaround milestones
  • Develop and maintain turnaround specific task lists which are utilized in the creation of the work orders and work packages that are field executable
  • Prepare and distribute weekly or daily schedules to the turnaround team, facilitate schedule development meetings and craft capacity outlook reports
  • Submit detailed reports of work progress and status
  • Assist in reviews that compare actual progress status with the actual planned projections and schedule, and analyze earned value to communicate any possible issues during events
  • Introduce actual progress and status data into the Primavera (P6) planning system and monitor items which could be potentially problematic with regards to execution and progress
  • Provide and distribute the planned daily shift work scope schedules; discuss and explain the schedules with each of the individual field coordinators
  • Collate all data generated during the turnaround and prepare a summary of actual duration of individual jobs and submit it to cost control for completion of the budget reconciliation
  • Support the business unit in executing area specific loss management programs to meet the oil sands group and legislated standards

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience working in oil and gas or a similar industrial environment
  • At least five years of scheduling experience with Primavera
  • Planning and scheduling courses are an asset
  • Technology diploma, degree or trade certification
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Expert knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (i.e. SAP/P6), including familiarity with material management systems in SAP
  • Proficient with Primavera and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Visio and Excel
  • Solid understanding of turnaround planning and scheduling concepts
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work professionally with others at various levels
  • Highly motivated self-starter that collaborate with others and maintain positive relationships across different teams, and make decisions with integrity in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value

Working Conditions

  • This is a camp-based position at the Firebag site
  • The shift schedule is Monday to Thursday and you will be required to work additional hours and night shifts during periods of turnarounds and shutdowns
  • Combination of office and field work depending on the phase of the turnaround
  • Exposure to a variety of temperatures and potential hazardous conditions such as noise, dirt and congestion, during work scope walk-downs
