Reporting to the project controls manager, Business Unit Projects (BUP), you will lead a team of project controls analysts, providing project controls functional services to the BUP integrated teams throughout the entire project life cycle. You will be collaborating significantly with the Turnaround (TA) group and Cross Functional teams (CFT) maintenance in order to set shared expectations and reporting deliverables between BUP and TA in the annual major maintenance events. With your leadership experience and knowledge of relevant processes, procedures and standard methodologies, you will lead cost control, change management, forecasting, variance analyses, and stewardship reporting to facilitate timely decision-making and corrective actions on projects.


  • You will provide project controls services to integrated teams with active participation of all necessary partners
  • Collaborate with supply chain management (SCM) to ensure fit-for-purpose project controls requirements are included in the contract formation process
  • Participate in commercial bid reviews and change reviews from a budget and cost management perspective
  • Onboard engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction contractors to BUP project controls requirements
  • Collaborate with estimating in the estimate development, review and validation process
  • Show dedication in project core team meetings, schedule reviews and cash flow reviews
  • Work with BUP Construction in implementing a sustainable progress and performance system
  • Monitor and control incurred costs, actual costs, incurred cost flow and variance analysis, changes and impact on project forecast
  • Handle project close-out stewardship and benchmarking
  • Own stewardship reports and project health dashboards
  • Mentor and coach direct reports; while being responsible for performance management of direct reports

Required Qualifications

 
  • 10 years of experience in project controls, finance, project management, supply chain or related disciplines in the energy sector
  • A proven track record of taking initiative when leading a team of 5-10 professionals, setting direction in a cross-functional environment
  • Collaborate with a number of dynamic work groups to set shared expectations to effect desired outcomes
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering, Finance, Business or related programs of study

  • Strong analytical background including proficiency in SAP and Excel
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), which allows you to partner and communicate effectively with clients and partners
  • Organized, with the ability to balance competing priorities
  • Continuous improvement mindset particularly in the area of process improvement
