Working in our base plant in the oil sands, you will report to the project manager and provide coordination for all project phases to ensure effective development and execution of projects. You will also participate in project development activities such as design input, estimating, planning and scheduling to ensure safe and quality projects.


  • Keep track and provide updates on emerging risk issues, including safety, cost, schedule and quality of projects
  • Ensure the proper establishment and documentation of projects
  • Prepare and provide project progress reports for internal partners and follow up on any actions
  • Assist in maintaining work throughout the project’s life cycle
  • Develop all work and coordinate as needed to ensure compliance with set project dates
  • Review the design and construction work packages to allow planning of the execution
  • Develop and maintain all project documentation and validate that all trends are processed for resolution and response to the field
  • Communicate work assignments and distribute all pertinent project definition documentation to internal partners
  • Coordinate and ensure all required engineered items for projects are procured in accordance with the project specification, schedule and dates
  • Coordinate project’s execution plan, which includes turnaround activities
  • Develop relationships with the internal partners, interact with supply chain management and asset management to finish the project objectives
  • Demonstrate safety leadership related to project execution and day-to-day work
  • Ensure a fit for purpose approach based on the complexity of the project
  • Work closely with development partners in the project development phase and support as required

Required Qualifications

 
  • Five or more years of experience in project execution with at least two years exposure to the operation, maintenance or reliability field
  • Experience in a refinery, petrochemical plant or the oil sands is an asset
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, preferably mechanical or electrical
  • Eligible to register with APEGA
  • Registration with PMI is preferred
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Knowledge of management of change processes
  • Knowledge in gated project management programs
  • Execution skill set such as cost and schedule development
  • You are a self-starter with strong technical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • You are able to handle stress caused by complex decisions, tight timelines and conflicts with external suppliers and contractors
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to make decisions with integrity and support company objectives and policies
