Reporting to the, lead reliability engineer, you will work closely with the maintenance group to provide condition monitoring, mechanical engineering and equipment reliability support for our base plant haul truck and grader fleets.


  • Collaborate with  Maintenance & Reliability engineers on event/trend analysis
  • Develop equipment strategies and preventive maintenance programs for our haul truck and grader fleets
  • Conduct failure, root cause, and incident investigations and develop recommendations and action plans to prevent reoccurrence
  • Participate in implementing reliability improvement initiatives in conjunction with the equipment asset multi-functional teams
  • Develop maintenance scopes of work and design small scope engineering solutions for modifications and/or repair
  • Conduct reliability analysis to predict remaining service life and make recommendations for equipment change out or overhaul
  • Liaise with the vendors and original equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues
  • Conduct condition monitoring and data analysis using health monitoring real-time applications;  create notifications for maintenance execution;
  • Employ equipment health monitoring tools to develop condition alarm thresholds, trends and technical operating envelops
  • Conduct event driven and predictive maintenance analysis;
  • Develop equipment and component health assessments, using maintenance history, condition monitoring tools and component hours;
  • Liaise with Maintenance Planning and Execution to optimize maintenance scheduling for haul trucks and graders
  • Manage, assess and action fleet oil analysis program;
  • Support or lead health monitoring projects;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize condition monitoring programs;
  • Track and report on Equipment Condition Monitoring data and KPIs.  
  • Assess business case/savings achieved by the program;

Required Qualifications

 
  • Four or more years of experience in mobile mining or heavy equipment maintenance and reliability engineering; previous mining operations and shovels experience is an asset
  • Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering
  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration with the association of professional engineers and geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a professional engineer or engineer-in-training
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with a working knowledge of SAP
  • Well-developed critical thinking, with an ability to apply logic and challenge assumptions
  • Strong analytical skills including analyzing  data, conducting root cause assessment and drawing and presenting conclusions and recommendations
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to make decisions with integrity and support company objectives and policies
  • You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems
  • Practical thinker who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty

Working Conditions

  • This position has the potential for shift work
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
