Reporting to the manager, automation, you will provide control system technical support to automation, process engineering, operations, reliability and other partners.


  • Program and maintain existing process control systems, specifically Experion PKS, Honeywell TPS/TDC 3000, Allen Bradley PLC, Triconex, HW FSC SIS/BMS, BN, CCC, etc.
  • Strive for timely resolution of technical issues, technical requests for information and the support for process control and application related problems
  • Provide commissioning and start up support to sustaining projects
  • Continuously improve control systems to optimize reliability and performance
  • Develop, manage and sustain control system performance
  • Apply industry standards such as ISA, IEC, and CSA, in the execution of work
  • Support our incident learning and prevention and management of change processes
  • Craft or support standard methodologies for automation

Required Qualifications

 
  • Five or more years of related experience in refineries or the petro chemical industry
  • Experience with Honeywell Experion PKS/ TPS/TDC3000 System, Triconex SIS, HW FSC and Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Experience in installing, troubleshooting and maintaining communications between various control systems
  • Bachelor degree in engineering, specifically electrical, computer, computer process control or instrumentation discipline or equivalent certification in a technical diploma  

  • Deep understanding of basic process control system (BPCS) architecture, hardware and software configuration, instrument and electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of digital buses like Profibus, Devicenet, Foundation Fieldbus
  • Knowledgeable in regulatory and discrete controls, including motor control, valve control and other regulatory controls
  • Skilled in the preparation and review of control deliverables, such as Control narratives, logic diagrams, cause/effect diagram, and wiring diagrams
  • Deep understanding of networks, switches, fibre back-bone and other control system infrastructures, including process control network security.
  • Highly motivated with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Working Conditions

  • This position includes an on-call schedule to support plants operations outside of regular working hours
  • This position is not eligible for overtime
  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
