Reporting to the manager, automation, you will provide control system technical support to automation, process engineering, operations, reliability and other partners.


  • Safely champion improvements through proper change management
  • Actively participate in root cause investigations
  • Strive for timely resolution of issues and requests for information
  • Continuously improve existing processes for supporting internal stakeholders
  • Maintain control system performance to optimize reliability and performance
  • Apply industry standards such as ISA, IEC, and CSA
  • Provide commissioning and start up support for projects

Required Qualifications

 
  • Five to ten years of related experience in refineries or an industrial setting
  • Bachelor degree in engineering, specifically chemical, electrical, or computer engineering
  • Registered (or eligible) as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGGA)
  • Deep experience with use of process control networks and various control systems such as Honeywell Experion PKS/ TPS/TDC3000 System, Triconex SIS, HW FSC, Allen Bradley PLCs, CCC, Bently Nevada, or Prognost is an asset

  • Highly motivated with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to troubleshoot in a fast paced environment
  • Skilled in the preparation and presentation of technical documents and professional reports based on analysis of findings
  • Strong desire to share knowledge & effectively work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Deep understanding of basic process control system (BPCS) architecture, hardware & software configuration.
  • Knowledgeable in regulatory and discrete controls, including motor control, valve control and other regulatory controls is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • This position includes an on-call schedule to support plants operations outside of regular working hours
  • This position is not eligible for overtime
  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
