  • Improve the value of the asset’s resource base through optimization of existing and planning for future SAGD operations
  • Develop appropriate forecasts and budgets as part of long term depletion plan
  • Actively pursue and support technology implementation for financial, environmental and social sustainability
  • Work collaboratively with operations staff to efficiently manage well and pad operations
  • Ensure consistent, effective and standardized safety processes are in place for subsurface operations
  • Support regulatory submissions and liaison with authorities
  • Work closely with other organizations and partners  to achieve business results
  • Leadership and technical guidance of multidisciplinary team including reservoir and production engineering, geology and geophysics
  • Provide direct mentorship and development activities to support front line leaders
  • Become an active member in situ resources leadership team to develop and implement strategies to meet business objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of engineering, geoscience or related technical experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Minimum eight  years of proven people leadership experience with the ability to train and develop others
  • Deep understanding of thermal oil recovery
  • Experience with in situ oil sands or related operations
  • APEGA Professional status is strongly desired

Working Conditions

  • This position is located in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre
  • Occasional travel will be required primarily within Alberta
