Reporting to the manager, production coordination, you will develop and communicate the weekly production plan to your respective integrated business areas. In addition, you will manage bitumen and diluent tank levels, blending activities and product quality in accordance with the strategy developed with the optimization planner and production scheduler.


  • Develop daily bitumen production schedule to meet sales plans
  • Develop and execute bitumen tank strategies
  • Monitor and manage key process variables (schedule, tank levels, pipeline rates, quality, primary upgrading operations) to minimize the risk of bitumen production shut-in
  • Integrate constraints from operating areas into the production plan
  • Develop blending plans and issue blending instructions to maximize revenue while conforming to product quality and volumetric requirements
  • Work in collaboration with production scheduler and optimization planner to optimize short term risks
  • Work closely with the site wide lead, our pipeline control centre, Enbridge Athabasca Tank Terminal operations, the Enbridge pipeline control center, our East Tank Farm operations, and our supply and trading team to address immediate issues
  • Update blending/predictor spreadsheets for all product batches within the three day scheduling window
  • Update tank composition spreadsheets
  • Adjust injection schedules based on pipeline operations
  • Review quality of bitumen product components and follow the appropriate quality processes in order to take action to correct off-spec tanks, correct and optimize blends, redirect rundowns, and address potential issues identified by the laboratory

Required Qualifications

 
  • Two or more years of experience within the oil and gas industry; experience in process, technical or operations is preferred
  • Bachelor degree in engineering, preferably chemical or mechanical
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with diverse groups
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter who works well independently
  • Extraordinary time management skills, with the demonstrated ability to meet fixed deliverable due dates
  • Strong computing skills and analytical ability
  • You respond to quality concerns by applying excellent judgment with limited information

Working Conditions

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • The shift schedule is 3 days, 3 nights, 6 off rotation (12 hour shifts)
  • This position is eligible for overtime
  • Much of your time is spent in an office environment with opportunities for field visits where you will be exposed to a variety of temperatures and unpleasant conditions (such as noise, dirt and chemicals)
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
