Are you looking for a new opportunity to join our Fort McMurray construction team? Reporting directly to the construction manager, you will be accountable to ensure contractors carry out construction activities in a safe, timely and cost effective manner and in accordance with the work packages and specifications.


  • Work closely with other team members such as coordinators, project controls, contracts, and materials management, to achieve project specific goals and requirements
  • Participate in readiness for constructions reviews and attend kick off meetings as necessary
  • Act as a liaison between Suncor and the construction contractor in respective areas to resolve interface and integration issues
  • Ensure timely execution of construction administration responsibilities and support progress validation in conjunction with project controls
  • Follow the project change management processes, focusing on accuracy of costs and resources and timely closure
  • Identify any potential changes and rework that could impact the cost or schedule of the project and deal with it appropriately
  • Review and validate contractor daily labour equipment and materials and follow up on validation of contractors when needed
  • Authorize day-to-day minor changes within the specified limits and attend safety meetings

Required Qualifications

 
  • 10 or more years of experience in a similar role with a mechanical background
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Capable of reading and understanding drawings, P&ID’s, ISO’s and conversant with industry and project specific standards, specifications and applicable codes
  • Deep understanding and well-developed business skills including contract management, along with oil sands experience and significant mechanical experience and knowledge
  • Domestic and Alberta project execution knowledge
  • You thrive under deadline pressures, enjoy working with tight timelines, and consistently maintain a strong amount of detail
  • You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential risks
  • You hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same

Working Conditions

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • This position is located in Fort McMurray and only local residents will be considered
  • The shift schedule is a 10 days on / 4 days off rotation
