Shell MSA (Manufacturing Support Americas) provides a wide range of comprehensive support to Shell Downstream Refining ranging from unit monitoring through process design, project development to technical services.
The following open position is for Subject Matter Expert with a wide spectrum of refinery background and mainly including knowledge of Delayed Coking Technology (main core) and Flexicoking Technology (optional). The main work location is at Shell WoodCreek, with an estimated travelling of 30% along USA  Gulf Coast, Argentina and West Coast.

The successful applicant shall be an engineer with 10+ years experience in troubleshooting Delayed coking process, and highly knowledgeable of operability, reliability practices, while able to provide expertise to improve units design, safety, and margin.
The successful applicant shall demonstrate capabilities to address and handle following main areas:
  • Knowledge of coking hardware and equipment, including but not limited to: heaters, fractionator, gas plant, coke cutting tools, rotary joint, drill stems, free fall arrestor, high pressure coke cutting “jet” pumps, winches, high pressure hoses, decoking valves, decoking and quench water systems, coke drums, isolation and switch valves, bridge crane, coke crusher, coke conveyor, as well as their uses, and associated malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of coker trouble-shooting techniques and practices, and ability to analyze situations.
  • Application of practical experience in start up/ shut downs of coking units, operational experience, predictive, preventive maintenance and repair.
  • Skill in exercising sound technical judgment.
  • The successful applicant will be part of the MSA team and will:
  • Develop and support process designs for revamps and new units.
  • Provide skilled refining process technology advice on optimal operation, evaluation of plant performance, including Proactive Unit Monitoring.
  • Be a technical authority in support to projects, process studies & provide design basis, and mechanical / reliability engineering input over a full project life cycle, from concept, FEED, through to successful start-up/operation in Shell, JV and 3rd party refineries.
  • Provide skilled refining process technology licensing support to the licensing business.
  • Lead and ensure the delivery of the Development Release program for new activities; ensure appropriate support for successful deployment of the Development in current and new facilities.
  • Promote refining process safety in design.
  • Adhere to quality standards and ensure that all HSE, Group, Regulatory, Quality, and other appropriate standards are complied with.
  • Ability to prepare complex technical reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all personnel.
  • Timely delivery of process and basic design work for Shell.
  • Maintain and improve the process design in existing and new assets.
  • Maintain and improve the refining process design in existing and new assets.
