Analyst, Biofuels Compliance

Reporting to the team leader, biofuels optimization, you will act as a focal point for biofuels compliance stewardship and reporting. You will perform analytical work which will provide a basis for compliance optimization efforts.


  • Track, forecast, and report Suncor’s compliance under Canadian (federal and provincial) renewable fuel mandates
  • Calculate Suncor’s monthly actual and forecasted year-end compliance position under Canadian provincial and federal biofuels mandates to support overall compliance stewardship
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses across different jurisdictions and business case scenarios to mitigate risks of non-compliance
  • Prepare quarterly and annual biofuels government reports
  • Coordinate and support internal and external annual biofuels audits
  • Support the optimization analysis on opportunities to reduce Suncor’s integrated compliance costs on existing regulations
  • Support the budget and long-range planning process for renewable fuel volume requirements
  • Handle monthly biofuels credit account books and biofuels credit trading with external third parties and; work in a co-operative manner with internal and external stakeholders to settle biofuels credit trades
  • Ensure biofuels compliance calculations and procedures are updated to reflect changes to biofuels supply or legislation
  • Provide analyses under changing and emerging biofuels legislation on business impacts to Suncor
  • Provide basis for inter-departmental biofuels trading and compliance forum

Required Qualifications

 
  • Three or more years of related experience in an analytical role
  • Experience with Downstream product lines and logistics would be an asset
  • Post-secondary education

  • Strong demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP
  • Strong stakeholder management with a proven ability to build strong positive relationships internally and externally, amongst diverse groups
  • You are a highly motivated, self-starter who possesses strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and is able to perform effectively in a team environment
  • You possess strong attention to detail and analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • You hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same
