The facilities include crude distillation, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking and delayed coking units. The refinery processes mainly heavy, high-sulfur crude oil. It receives domestic crude oil by pipeline from California, Canadian crude via rail, and both foreign and domestic crude oil by tanker through a third-party terminal in the Port of Long Beach.
