Purpose & Accountabilities:

The candidate will contribute to the Trading & Supply (T&S) Operations Fuels Product Management/Product Lifecycle Management, Product Quality and Claims orgainisation vision of assuring brand and value protection while enabling sustained value generation through strong partnership with the DS businesses. We have in place fit-for purpose tools and processes, reliable product data and a competent, dynamic and robust skill pool which ensure fuels consistently meet our promises on quality, performance & HSSE.
There is an opportunity to develop a structured framework and global network dedicated to identifying and preventing quantity loss. This will reduce exposure to HSSE incidents, value leakage, compliance challenges and potential reputational damage.
The incumbent will be expected to utilize their loss control experience and technical expertise along with their leadership and proven networking, stakeholder and project management, audit and assurance skills to:
  • Support and coordinate Shell Downstream (DS) businesses around oil loss incidents and issues in the form of advice for process improvements and learning from incidents and audit action closure
  • Develop and maintain global DS wide loss control network, identifying and working cross-business related opportunities and threats
  • Provide structure in terms of reporting incidents, methodology, data analysis, minimum requirements and training
  • Develop and roll out standardized inspection nominations, risk based inspections and integrity manangement methdologies
  • Develop assurance mechanisms to identify weak areas for intervention and support
  • Work oil loss and theft issues in high risk countries
  • Where needed, develop standard, manuals and training material for the organization.
Dimensions:
  • Practical awareness will be required in the following areas:
  • Ability to collaborate with and lead variety of global internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of basic loss control management principles and tools
  • Cargo measurement and sampling procedures for all modes of transportation and facilities.
  • Custody transfer procedures, including all necessary documentation.
  • Refinery, terminal and pipeline logistics.
  • Understanding of commercial trading/supply principles.
  • Types and structure of product/oil trading contracts and charter parties.
  • Awareness of the degrees of loss control risk involved in physical oil trading and shipping operations.
  • Ability to identify learning points and poor operational practices in relation to loss control.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven audit and assurance experience supported by ability to clearly document observations and actions in written reports
