Reporting to the lead, reliability, you will be responsible for conducting machinery diagnostics by utilizing various technologies including vibration monitoring, thermal imaging, ultrasonic, PDMA electric motor testing and analysis.

  • Provide front line analytical troubleshooting and technical information and lead all rotating engineering work for our extraction millennium operations in order to support a safe and reliable plant
  • Identify long-range rotating equipment reliability plans to ensure quality of work identification, scope development and execution aligns with the operations and maintenance strategies
  • Ensure integrity and improvement of rotating equipment
  • Support incident investigations with the reliability team and prevention of reoccurrence
  • Monitor the effectiveness of programs and procedures to focus on root cause identification and defect elimination
  • Prepare and engage team members to effectively carry out duties to improve facility reliability, improve safety performance and lower overall costs
  • Support the reduction of unplanned failures of rotating equipment in assigned area
  • Oversee rotating equipment activities on major outages from scope development through to execution with a focus on reliability improvements, quality field execution.
  • Engage with the Suncor Technical Excellence Network (STEN) to ensure our standards are adopted for rotating equipment
  • Recommend and assist with implementing systems to identify emerging industry trends that may impact rotating equipment reliability

Required Qualifications

  • Three or more years of rotating equipment experience related to troubleshooting, repair and maintenance
  • Category one or two vibration analysis certification
  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Millwright Certificate, or a Mechanical Engineering degree or technical diploma is preferred
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Strong knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) including SAP, Machinery Health Manager (MHM), EB/LL
  • Advanced knowledge of vibration and lubrication analysis
  • You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace, in order to understand not just what you do but why you do it
  • You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems

Working Conditions

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • Weekend coverage is required every 4th week on a rotating schedule
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
