Specialist, Piping Condition Monitoring

Reporting to the condition monitoring lead, you will provide effective condition monitoring strategies and integrity assessment services for the operational integrity and reliability of piping systems in accordance with our procedures and international standards


  • Build inspection strategies for piping systems based on risk and following best practices and international standards
  • Perform piping integrity assessment, ensuring effective review of inspection data, results trending and remaining life evaluation
  • Provide technical scopes and recommendations for piping systems to support engineering decisions for a sustainable and reliable operation
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement processes to optimize our piping program
  • Collaborate with reliability engineering and metallurgy on piping data and trend analysis to support root cause evaluation

Required Qualifications

 
  • Five or more years of industry experience, preferably in Oil Sands, refinery or hydrocarbon processing facility
  • Deep understanding and experience in piping integrity programs, corrosion mechanisms, risk assessment and piping inspections preferred
  • Bachelor degree in engineering, with preference given to metallurgy or mechanical disciplines
  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) is considered an asset
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; working knowledge of RBMI, PCMS, SAP is an asset
  • Well-developed critical thinking, with an ability to apply logic and challenge assumptions
  • Strong analytical skills including analyzing statistical data, conducting condition assessment and ability for trending and analysis to drive conclusions and recommendations
  • You have a questioning attitude, constantly asking what is not right and check for unusual conditions and learn to anticipate problems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in order to achieve the best results in a timely matter and deliver the most value

Working Conditions

  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended hours during outages
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
