Reporting to a manager within the supply chain, category management team, you play a key role in supporting the strategy, contract development, negotiation, and contractor performance management activities by collaborating closely with the business unit stakeholders and external contractors in order to drive value in your category.

  • Develop and apply a strong understanding of business demand and market conditions
  • Play a key role in the creation of long term initiatives for the optimization of contract formation and execution for your category
  • Develop the commercial strategy for the services or materials in your category to continuously improve our current systems
  • Support and manage lifecycle contract activities while continuously improving, evaluating and analyzing commercial models for optimal business solutions
  • Lead in the areas of commercial strategy development, contract negotiation and contract development
  • Oversee the process for contractor performance management activities and continue to build positive contractor relationships

Required Qualifications

  • At least five years of experience in developing and implementing commercial strategies to achieve business goals and objectives
  • Experience in strategic, high value contract negotiations
  • Experience in forming and drafting contracts
  • Post-secondary education in business is preferred
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • Demonstrated skills in business partner relationship management and continuous improvement applications
  • Proven leadership skills to drive commitment from both internal stakeholders and contractors
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance, policies and procedures and contracting practices
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain an analytical focus
  • Possess strong communication, facilitation and writing skills

Working Conditions

  • This position is based in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre
  • Travel may be required to Suncor sites within Canada and the U.S.
