Shift Supervisor, Mobile Cranes

Reporting to the lead crane supervisor, maintenance support services, you will be responsible to oversee the day-to-day activities of the mobile crane team. As the shift supervisor for mobile cranes, you will provide service to the support services team.


  • Dispatch, supervise and coordinate transportation services
  • Manage crane contractors and work execution
  • Scope jobs and recommend crane size and configurations
  • Ensure to compliance with environment, health and safety standards
  • Confirm the safety and environmental integrity of the cranes
  • Report and assist in the investigation of all incidents to closure
  • Verify all checks for any critical lift with mobile cranes by supporting the crane lift review team
  • Basic administrative computer work and duties

Required Qualifications

 
  • Five or more years of front line leadership experience with crane operations or maintenance in an industrial setting
  • Experience leading in a unionized environment
  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Crane Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Crane Certificate; would consider Engineering of other Trade Certificate
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Deep understanding of crane operations and technical knowledge
  • Proficient in SAP
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Dedicated to promoting a strong safety culture
  • You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for unusual conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems

Working Conditions

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • The shift schedule is a 5 days on/ 4 days off rotation
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
