Senior Advisor, Tax Planning

Reporting to the manager, tax planning, you will deliver timely, effective and pragmatic tax planning advice, in a broad range of scenarios including executing tax recommendations for business plans and special projects and providing support to our controversy team through all aspects of the audit and litigation cycle 


  • Conduct due diligence, research and provide structuring advice with respect to mergers and acquisitions, asset divestitures and other transactions
  • Proactively identify tax planning opportunities and tax risks encountered by the business
  • Participate in all stages of the tax controversy cycle including preparing responses to audit queries, assisting in the drafting of Notices of Objection and Appeals and contributing to strategy development that will result in favorable tax dispute resolutions for Suncor
  • Assist the tax compliance team with the documentation support for Suncor’s tax filing positions
  • Support teams within the tax group during periods of high demand, which could include compliance, provisions, indirect tax, international, etc
