Senior Advisor, Supply Chain Management Sustainability

Reporting directly to the director, SCM aboriginal and sustainability, you will help us to work together towards better, more sustainable solutions which will help to make a difference in society.

  • Build creative and strategic solutions across diverse functional teams that require leadership participation and that inform decision makers
  • Act as a key influencer by sharing knowledge and building capabilities of team members to provide impactful advice to stakeholders in the SCM value chain regarding lifecycle impacts
  • Lead strategic work: identify and progress high priority areas and opportunities for integrating sustainability concepts into our systems and processes within SCM and across Suncor
  • Develop company policies, standards, and guidelines to use across our SCM teams, in collaboration with subject matter experts across Suncor
  • Provide advice to develop risk mitigation strategies for existing and emerging business objectives

Required Qualifications

 
  • At least 10 years of overall experience, including roles where you worked directly on building and integrating sustainability programs into SCM
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree is an asset

  • Strong non-authoritative leadership skills which enables you to lead and influence across internal cross-functional groups as well as external vendors/suppliers to develop strategic and tactical approaches to integrating sustainability
  • Can demonstrate a deep understanding of sustainability issues and how they impact SCM and the energy industry as well as an organizational awareness in order to influence others to motivate change and enhance performance
  • In-depth understanding of business drivers and business strategy and how sustainability can support that strategy
  • Possess strong knowledge and application of risk-based decision-making ability, with the ability to evaluate and translate both quantitative and qualitative elements of sustainability impacts, risks, and mitigations
  • Passionate about continuous improvement initiatives and about helping us to achieve best-in-class sustainability processes
  • Strong collaboration skills that allow you to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • You value integrity and strive to always do the right thing, as safely, fairly, and as ethically as possible
  • You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace, in order to understand not just what you do but why you do it
  • You hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same

Working Conditions

  • You will be based in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre with a regular Monday to Friday work schedule
  • Some occasional travel will be required
