Quality Analyst (Crude)

Job ID

  • Deliver advanced technical knowledge of our equity and refinery crude diets to support optimization
  • Remain abreast with crude quality standards and testing methodologies
  • Manage technical issues for production and crude oil marketing, deliver mentorship and solutions optimizing risk and value
  • Consolidate production quality data for use in marketing crude oils for ST&O assays
  • Be the technical liaison of external quality oversight for our assets
  • Apply sound process engineering knowledge of crude oil quality issues for refinery process concerns
  • Generate and maintain the crude oil assays used in our linear program, scheduling and design while maintaining our assay libraries
  • Use crude assay specialized software (e.g. H/Cams, H/Comet) for assay management
  • Manage the company’s equity and external assay program, providing deep understanding of technical and mentorship for marketing activities
  • Represent Suncor in industry crude quality initiatives, including pooling and equalization

Required Qualifications

 

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Seven years in a refining/upgrading technical role
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or chemistry
  • Crude assay working knowledge
  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills in order to successfully facilitate workflows across business unit locations and with industry peers
  • The ability to effectively collaborate, encourage and lead others who are seeking to understand crude oil quality
  • Alignment with our values

Preference for:

  • Previous crude quality experience
  • Crude marketing and logistics experience
  • Previous experience using H/Cams crude assay software

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • You will work on an open, trading floor in order to maximize collaboration
