Process Engineer

  • Demonstrate dedication and support of our Journey to Zero safety culture by supporting initiatives
  • Execute modifications and improvement initiatives using our Management of Change (MOC) process
  • Develop business cases, engineering scopes, and test plans for sustaining projects
  • Own process safety and asset information, and ensure all engineered changes align with Technical Safety BC and Suncor Engineering Standards
  • Oversee and/or participate in reviews of new projects or proposed changes to terminal equipment and procedures
  • Lead and/or support risk reviews and process hazard analysis
  • Perform engineering calculations and simulations required to address process equipment or unit performance problems with a continuous improvement attitude
  • Build positive relationships to provide necessary support to the planning and execution of plant outages and start-ups

Required Qualifications

 

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Seven years of experience in grading, refinery, terminal, or design and detailed engineering
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Your Professional Engineer designation with eligibility for membership within the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC)
  • Strong technical skills with working knowledge of industry standards including API, ASME, CSA, CCME, Work Safe BC, BC Fire Code
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to think strategically with strong non-authoritative leadership skills
  • The ability to manage multiple, diverse relationships and activities while maintaining focus on priorities
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with process plant support and/or contact engineer experience

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Burrard Products terminal office located at 1155 Glenayre Drive, Port Moody, British Columbia
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
