Operator, Terminal Pipeline

Reporting to the terminal manager, you will be part of a team that operates and maintains the Milden and Saskatoon terminals and the 100 km long pipeline that connects them.


  • Maintain awareness of personal safety and that of co-workers, contractors and visitors
  • Regularly and carefully monitor equipment conditions and quickly address any deviations
  • Observe contractors for safety, quality of work and productivity and issue work permits in accordance with company standards
  • Ensure the safe receipt of product from pipelines and trucks into storage tanks
  • Act as a member of the emergency response team and actively participate in emergency situations including fires and spills
  • Record a detailed account of the day’s activities, operation, equipment issues, quality issues, administration issues etc. and include reasons for deviations to plan, as well as, any action taken to mitigate the issues
  • Monitor pipeline and terminal activity to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, procedures and policies
  • Maintain effective communication with key partners
  • Perform regular rounds, with a critical eye to equipment condition and operation
  • Perform routine jobs tasks, including preventative maintenance inspections, snow removal, facility housekeeping, general administration and record-keeping, supplies replenishment, shipping and receiving, light maintenance on equipment, product sampling and testing

Required Qualifications

 
  • Five or more years of experience in oil and gas or pipelines is an asset
  • Experience in performing light maintenance
  • Valid Saskatchewan Journeyman Millwright Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Millwright Certificate is an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Mechanical aptitude to capably understand and operate terminal systems and equipment
  • Strong analytical and trouble-shooting capability
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel
  • Strong safety mindset with the ability to actively participate in all safety initiatives
  • Strong understanding and compliance of safety, environmental and operational procedures and practices

Working Conditions

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use of ladders and working on elevated work sites with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor
  • The position involves periodic travel in a light single-engine aircraft for aerial pipeline surveillance
  • The shift schedule is Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:30
  • Every fourth week will require weekend work (07:00 -11:00 Saturday and Sunday) including being on-call with a company issued cell phone and being fit-for-duty during non-scheduled hours for 7 days straight
  • Will be required to work overtime as needed
  • Your primary residence must be within 60 km of Saskatoon
