Reporting to the director of supply chain management (SCM) oil sands, you will lead, direct, and handle the operations turnaround function activities for a specific business unit by delivering core supply chain functions to meet requirements for materials and services, and by providing supply chain planning, scheduling, coordinating, warehousing, materials handling, inventory planning, reverse logistics and asset recovery to the business units.

  • Lead, direct and handle the operations turnaround function within the Suncor SCM organization for specific business units
  • Establish annual objectives, measures, and performance targets aligned with overall supply chain management objectives and the broader Suncor company objectives
  • Manage strategy planning for the turnaround, contract formation, contract kickoffs, and management of contracts through execution window, planning material requirements, tracking and leading movement and logistics of materials in preparation for the turnaround
  • Accountable for leading SCM responsibilities associated with turnaround
  • Responsible for translating the business unit turnaround strategy to category management in order to align contracting strategies with turnaround activities
  • Drive compliance with supply chain policies, processes, procedures and strategies when engaged in operations turnaround activities with business units on an ongoing basis
  • Establish and steward budgets and forecasts
  • Provide short to medium term planning, scheduling, and coordinating for the supply of material and services
  • Provide material handling, warehousing, yard management, inventory planning, tool crib management, reverse logistics and asset recovery services
  • Coordinate post turnaround contract close out meeting, closing of PO’s and working with maintenance to reverse all unused and scrap/surplus materials such that work orders associated to turnaround can be closed and turnaround capitalized

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in SCM with at least 3 years in management roles with growing levels of responsibility
  • Oil and gas, mining or utilities industry experience preferred
  • Strong leadership and management in leading high-performance team’s required
  • Post-secondary business or supply chain degree preferred
  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)

  • Demonstrated ability to execute category strategies and able to translate to the business and SCM direct reports
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, complex tasks, and experience in high stress environments are a necessity to being both proactive (at design stage) and reactive
  • Proficient experience in project management and leadership
  • Experience with turnaround execution (as it relates to SCM processes and interface)
  • Maintenance and reliability standard and processes
  • Knowledge of sound change management practices
