Manager, Maintenance Execution, Trucks

Reporting to the director of mine equipment maintenance (trucks), you will directly oversee all maintenance on our Caterpillar haulage truck fleets.


  • Maintain strong communication between shop supervisors, Suncor’s  front line workforce and key vendor stakeholders, while establishing and upholding clear and transparent expectations
  • Collaborate with other truck shop managers to optimize shop equipment usage and cost efficiency
  • Lead and direct the safe and efficient execution of planned and unplanned maintenance for your designated portfolio
  • Interact with the front line leaders daily to ensure adherence to process and to enable the effective execution of our work
  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering, planning, and operations teams to eliminate bottlenecks in the maintenance of our fleets
  • Participate actively in meetings regarding safety, maintenance planning, workforce management, and optimization of work

Required Qualifications

 
  • Minimum five years of management experience in a heavy industrial setting
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in a heavy equipment maintenance environment
  • Journeyman certificate or degree in a related field is an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Deep understanding of heavy mobile equipment maintenance practices and vendor interaction processes
  • Ability to build and lead a team with operational discipline and exceptional commitment to “doing the right thing”
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
  • You have a continuous improvement mindset and constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems
  • You have an excellent safety attitude and strong work ethic, and hold others accountable, while expecting others to do the same
  • You are a creative problem solver with strong analytical skills

Working Conditions

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta on a Monday to Friday schedule
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
