The Maintenance Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and publishing the refinery daily and weekly maintenance schedules. This position works with the operations area supervisors, maintenance planners, and various others daily to ensure priorities are included in the schedule.

The Maintenance Scheduler informs maintenance and operations when resource constraints arise and makes recommended adjustments. It is also the responsibility of this position to ensure compliance with state regulations and that corporate standards are met by scheduling appropriately. This position reports to the Planning and Scheduling Lead.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Acts as a steward of safety and health by recognizing and stopping unsafe behavior, recognizing and reporting safety hazards, completing assigned safety training, and complying with PSM requirements

  • Demonstrates a concern for the environment and supports the goal of minimizing impacts

  • Develops and manages daily and weekly refinery maintenance schedules using company standard scheduling software

  • Ensures that scheduled work is not adversely impacted by conflicting jobs, equipment availability, resource coordination, work approval, etc.

  • Effectively facilitates regular meetings between operations and maintenance to coordinate, prioritize, schedule, and provide progress updates on daily work and schedule look-aheads

  • Ensures weekly maintenance look-ahead is completed and posted in a timely manner by end of week

  • Incorporate preventative maintenance, inspection and other plannable tasks into the schedule several weeks in advance to ensure compliance with required due dates

  • Works closely with the maintenance planners, supervisors, and operations area supervisors to ensure appropriate job steps are scheduled according to plan and all material is available before scheduled date of associated maintenance work

  • Identifies and helps resolve productivity issues

  • Ensures scheduling activities are compliant with company standards and work processes, applicable codes, and industry best practices

  • Interfaces regularly with operations area supervisors, maintenance supervisors, maintenance crafts, contractors, engineering, and corporate resources

  • Responsible for achieving maintenance planning metric scheduling targets

  • Assists with other planning department functions as needed

  • Participant in Phillips66 Scheduler Network

  • Provide SAP support to refinery personnel to synergize efficiencies in the Routine Maintenance Work Process

Required Qualifications

 
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • High School diploma or GED

  • 3 or more years of experience in Refining or Chemical industry

  • 3 or more years of experience in field Maintenance or Planning/Scheduling

  • Proficient in using SAP

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Possess a valid Driver’s License

  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic

Preferred:

  • Associates degree or higher

  • 3 or more years of maintenance scheduling experience within a Refinery

  • 3 or more years of experience working with Symphonic scheduling programs

  • 3 or more years of experience working with SAP

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

  • Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude

The San Francisco Refinery consists of two facilities linked by a 200-mile pipeline. The Santa Maria facility is located in Arroyo Grande, California, 200 miles south of San Francisco, California, while the Rodeo facility is in the San Francisco Bay Area. Semi-refined liquid products from the Santa Maria facility are shipped by pipeline to the Rodeo facility for upgrading into finished petroleum products. Facilities include crude distillation, naphtha reforming, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units, as well as a calciner. The San Francisco Refinery processes a mixture of heavy, high sulfur and light sweet crude oil. It receives California crude oil by pipeline, and both domestic and foreign crude oil by tanker. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. It also produces CARB-grade gasoline. Other products include petroleum coke. The majority of the refined products are distributed to California by pipeline and barge. Additional refined products are also exported to Latin America by waterborne cargo.
