The Maintenance QA/QC Inspector will ensure that all maintenance work is completed in accordance with industry codes, Corporate REP’s and site Mechanical Integrity procedures for all piping/equipment at the Alliance Refinery. This responsibility consists of completing the discipline scope safely and meeting all quality requirements. This will supports the Mechanical Integrity team in their efforts to maintain the Refinery in a safe, reliable and profitable manner through compliance and execution within the Mechanical Integrity Inspection programs.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Ensuring contractor compliance with requirements of Inspection Test Plans and work procedures.

  • Ensuring PPE requirements are strictly enforced and be an active participant in the Refinery safety programs and achieving safety goals.

  • Assisting with qualification of offsite fabricators.

  • Assisting with reviews of repair plans for routine maintenance work to ensure all industry and company standards are met.

  • Working with the maintenance organization to ensure all necessary IHP’s are captured in the scope and schedule accordingly.

  • Verifying all welding activities are conducted in accordance with an approved Welding Procedure and completed by qualified welders.

  • Auditing maintenance activities and verify proper flange make-up and bolting techniques are used.

  • Ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with an approved QA/QC quality plan

  • Reviewing for NDT Reports and radiographs for proper quality and acceptance.

  • Conducting witness code pressure tests and ensuring they are performed in accordance with the approved procedure.

  • Conducting final inspections ensuring that all activities have been completed in accordance with industry and company standards.

  • Reviewing final documentation in accordance with the QA/QC quality plan i.e. NDT, Hydrotest, Heat treatment, Material certificates, as built drawings, dimensional tolerances, etc. and assumes responsibility for overall acceptance of maintenance work.

  • Recommending and participating in resolution of corrective action and monitor completion of action for identified non-conformances and deficiencies.

  • Supporting all activities of the MI Inspection Team.

  • If needed, providing added support for turnaround and unscheduled outages.

Required Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • 1 or more years of experience in maintenance or a related position

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • API-510, API-570 or API-653 certification in good standing

  • Ability to climb heights of approximately 200 feet

  • Ability to work outside in harsh weather conditions

  • Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test

  • Ability to work in a confined space

  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Information can be found at


  • 3 or more years of experience in maintenance

  • AWS CWI certification in good standing

  • Experience working with API_RBI database, PCMS, or other similar inspection databases

The Alliance Refinery is located on the Mississippi River in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, approximately 25 miles southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana. The singletrain facility includes crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization, aromatics and delayed coking units. It processes mainly light and medium, low-sulfur crude oil. The refinery receives domestic crude oil through a combination of pipelines, marine transportation and terminals. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, home heating oil and anodegrade petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers in the southeastern and eastern United States through major pipeline systems and by barge. Refined products are exported primarily to Latin America by waterborne cargo.
