Reporting to the manager, turnaround, you will be responsible for the planning and scheduling of our turnaround projects at our base plant operations.


  • Develop, optimize, update and monitor the fully integrated plans and schedules, and provide input and reports throughout the planning and scheduling of the projects
  • Lead multiple, simultaneous projects, with direct influence over all planners and multimillion dollar budgets
  • Maintain effective control of the work scope that directly affects the budget and duration of all projects
  • Act as a key member of the core turnaround team, develop execution plans and quality assurance (QA) / quality control (QC) strategies; provide progress updates and audit documentation
  • Ensure coordination of activities contained in the fully integrated project plan and holds planners accountable for plans and budgets
  • Assist in identifying planning requirements and in directs (i.e. manpower, services, facilities, materials, etc.), and coordinate and schedule resources and equipment as required
  • Provide input to contractor requirements and selection; responsible for bid packages including preparation, contractor scope reviews, selection, support required and delivery requirements
  • Develop the tools distribution plan including identification of tools, sourcing from other sites or vendors, stocking and issuing of toolboxes, gang boxes, satellite tool cribs and delivery requirements
  • Aid in the training and development of planners, establish priorities for planners and steward updates
  • Capture lessons learned, updating library files and history and identify and implement opportunities for our next project

Required Qualifications

 
  • 10 or more years of maintenance experience with at least five years of experience in planning; preferably in the oil and gas industry
  • Experience in project management and turnaround work processes
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or trade certification or technical/mechanical background preferred
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Proficient in SAP (cost reporting and scheduling modules), project management software applications (e.g. GWOS) and Primavera
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance support workflow processes, performance measures, scheduling tools and techniques, engineering industry standards and QA / QC requirements
  • Exhibit a strong safety mindset and display a preventative and contingency based approach to planning with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to make decisions with integrity in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • Capable of handling and leading several tasks while focusing on quality and completion of deliverables
  • Highly motivated self-starter that collaborate with others and maintain positive relationships across different teams

Working Conditions

  • The position is mainly office-based (90%) but there are plant-based expectations which requires personal protective equipment (PPE) and exposure to various plant and environmental conditions
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
