Lead, Cost Analyst

Reporting to the manager, central planning and scheduling, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate performance information for cost management purposes. You will collaborate with our Oil Sands cross functional teams, vendors and corporate finance to ensure the annual budget, monthly forecasts and other ad hoc performance analysis are complete.


  • Lead a team consisting of 6-8 direct reports
  • Deliver quality bi-weekly meetings with team members, ongoing mentoring and feedback and formal performance reviews
  • Support continuous personal and professional improvement through training, social interactions and goal setting
  • Remove roadblocks and support your team members with resolving key business challenges and further continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain and develop relationships with other support functions (supply chain, contract management, finance) to ensure cohesive results and shared responsibilities
  • Support and guide the cost analyst team within their specific areas of accountability, while focusing on increasing financial acumen within their business units
  • Attend weekly cross functional team meetings to gain knowledge of specific business units or to introduce reporting, process changes and ensure efficient outputs

Required Qualifications

 
  • 5 – 7 years of supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Finance is preferred; other relevant education will be considered
  • Experience and understanding of maintenance cost and performance

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite; proficiency in SAP and Livelink is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) which allows you to partner and communicate effectively with vendors, directors and managers
  • Dedicated and flexible self-starter with excellent judgment
  • Highly collaborative in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • You possess a continuous improvement mindset especially in the area of process improvement

Working Conditions

  • Work may require extended periods of time at a computer
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
