The Operations-Intern supports day-to-day operations. The selected candidate will be part of the operations team and will work under the direction of the Shift Superintendent.


Responsibilities may include:

Maintain a safe laboratory working environment.

Become knowledgeable of and adhere to safe work practices and procedures by completing all safety training, actively participating in company safety programs, and observing and correcting unsafe acts

Train on all analyses in the water lab

Operate lab instrumentation following standard laboratory guidelines

Utilize SQC trends to evaluate instrument accuracy and precision, taking corrective action if necessary

Prepare standards and standardize solutions required in analyses

Manipulate spreadsheets to log data and calculate results

Maintain and continuously increase technical knowledge

Self-start and work independently, as well as work within a team setting to accomplish objectives

Keep good, legible records

Communicate well with all employees, helping others were needed

Consistently carry out assigned tasks, as planned, in a timely manner

Perform assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize personal productivity

Maintain a reliable work schedule with a minimum of 20 hours a week

The Sweeny Refinery is located 65 miles southwest of Houston. This refinery processes mainly heavy, high-sulfur crude oil, as well as light, low-sulfur crude oil.
