Working closely with operations and maintenance personnel at the Sarnia refinery, this role is to provide inspection services to support the construction and repair of new and existing pressure vessels and piping. In addition, inspector's will co-ordinate the non-destructive examination (NDE) program to monitor the pressure vessels and piping.

  • Support the refinery to improve safety culture and overall safety performance on the journey to zero. Committed to working safely while actively supporting your co-workers to do the same
  • Participate in incident investigations for the purposes of learning and prevention. In addition, prepare, review and maintain inspection database and reports for quality analysis
  • Participate in activities of cross-functional teams to analyze reliability issues and recommend solutions to continually improve facility reliability. Requires broad based thinking that considers impact of processes, equipment use and repair history
  • Identify long-range static equipment reliability plans to ensure work identification, scope development and execution aligns with the reliability strategies. Plans include suitable cost/benefit analysis to allow sound business decision-making
  • Actively participate in all phases of maintenance; material selection, inspection and testing plans, execution and final testing
  • Participate or lead inspection activities for both ongoing non-destructive testing program and outages involving quality field inspections, analysis of results and recommendations for correction of substandard equipment
  • Ensure integrity of static equipment is maintained and improved through reliability group and maintenance by monitoring the effectiveness of programs and procedures and making recommend changes
  • Assist with setting priorities of the reliability team department activities that align with the refinery goals
  • Recommend inspection technology to improve inspection effectiveness
  • An understanding of the regulatory acts, codes and standards that cover refinery static equipment is required. Also building sound relationships with representatives of the local regulatory agencies is necessary to ensure an effective relationship is maintained

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in petrochemical or refining preferred
  • Knowledge of Non-destructive testing methods
  • American petroleum institute (API) 510 or 570 certification required; API 653 certification is an asset
  • Technical Diploma in mechanical engineering technology, welding or equivalent; or a high school diploma with eight or more years of related experience will be considered

  • Highly motivated to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • You possess strong communication skills both verbally and written
  • You have strong time managements skills, well organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Keen attention to detail and a strong work ethic
