Are you a self-starter with extraordinary communication skills and the ability to interact cross-functionally? Reporting to the team lead, industrial hygiene, you will be responsible to identify, assess and communicate health risks to employees by planning, scheduling and conducting identified industrial hygiene monitoring projects for assigned areas of responsibility.


  • Provide day-to-day technical advice, expertise and direction to clients to ensure compliance to legislative requirements, industry and company standards 
  • Conduct workplace assessments to identify, quantify and control risk to people, property and equipment and to identify, mitigate chemical, physical, biological and ergonomics issues
  • Engage in the development and implementation of programs and processes that support the business
  • Perform as an integral member of the team, interacting and collaborating with other people and departments, participating on joint health and safety committees and with regulatory authorities
  • Generate data for statistical analysis from Industrial Hygiene database as well as compiling reports on program effectiveness
  • Lead personal protective equipment trials and develop associated implementation plans

Required Qualifications

 
  • Three or more years of industrial hygiene experience
  • Previous experience with monitoring methods, assessments (including: chemicals, noise, heat stress, lighting, ventilations systems, ergonomics), and abatement/remediation activities
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline with preference for a master’s degree in industrial hygiene
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist/Registered Occupational Hygiene Technician/Registered Occupational Hygienist (or equivalent) professional designation.
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Passionate about providing solutions to complex issues utilizing proficient analytical, problem solving skills and independent discernment
  • Skilled technical writing and presentation skills to report monitored results to management
  • Self-starter with exceptional communication skills
  • Flexibility to shift focus and handle multiple tasks
  • You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace, in order to understand not just what you do but why you do it

Working Conditions

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • This position is located at Base Plant in Fort McMurray and supports various business units
  • Supporting the industrial hygiene program in a unionized environment
  • Shifts schedule: 40-hour work week, with on-call support as required
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
