Reporting to the manager, health and safety, you will act as a technical advisor, coordinate safety programs and provide functional leadership while supporting operational excellence in the personal safety area.

  • Provide day-to-day support for Turnaround safety programs
  • Steward safety performance of TA Contractors during maintenance outages
  • Audit Contractor Safety Management Process in preparation for Turnaround execution
  • Lead, implement and evaluate short and long term projects and integrate projects with internal partners
  • Anticipate, identify, evaluate and contribute to both proactive and reactive controls to mitigate risk
  • Build practical and economical solutions to a broad range of related challenges
  • Develop or enhance and then implement standardized processes and systems
  • Determine and conclude on priorities and performance targets
  • Perform as a functional leader and provide mentorship to junior team members

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of safety-related and/or Turnaround-related field experience in the oil & gas sector preferred
  • Relevant, equivalent education combined with at least one recognized safety designation (NCSO, CRSP)
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • Expert technical and professional safety knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and computer knowledge in SAP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Outstanding interpersonal, customer service, analytical, presentation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while handling multiple assignments at a time, establish priorities and meet schedules
  • You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace, in order to understand not only what you do but the reason you do it

Working Conditions

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
