The Facilities Supervisor will be accountable to coordinate, oversee, and resolve any obstacles to ensure efficient and effective routine maintenance activities are achieved for their assigned areas of the plant across all craft disciplines. This role drives maintenance efficiency in all parts of the maintenance process including but not limited to: planning, scheduling, materials availability, operations’ preparation, work permitting, and field execution.


  • Accountable for ensuring refinery procedures are followed.

  • Conducts safety audits and participates in management reviews.

  • Exercises authority to shutdown unsafe work and resolve the necessary issues.

  • Works with operators and crafts to resolve safety concerns

  • Delivers safety meetings and tool box talks as required

  • Audits maintenance work daily to ensure safe execution and acceptable clean up when the job is over.

  • Helps to ensure handover from operations to craft, craft to craft, and craft to operations meets required expectations.

Maintenance: The Facilities/Services Supervisor is accountable for ensuring high quality, efficient, and effective maintenance work at reduced cost and enable reduced equipment downtime to achieve the refinery operating plan. Oversees the following contracts for the site: HVAC, Lawn, Elevator, Roads/Grounds, Building Maintenance, Facilities cleaning and roof repairs/replacements.

This position reports to and takes direction from the Maintenance Superintendent.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Ensure 100% compliance to safety procedures (Permitting, LOTO, PPE, etc) by P-66 and contract crafts assigned.

  • Responsible for managing day to day Routine Maintenance activities.

  • Attend weekly Production Area maintenance meetings including prioritization and maintenance scheduling (support 3 week look ahead)

  • Review daily and weekly maintenance schedule and execute work with crafts assigned to complete the work.

  • Provide daily field execution status report to Maintenance Scheduler.

  • Interface daily with area business teams to assure any maintenance related issues are handled/resolved.

  • Provide maintenance execution expertise and information to Maintenance Planners and Maintenance Schedulers as needed.

  • Support Major Turnarounds, Minor Turnarounds, Pit Stops, De-cokes, and other duties as needed for Production area assigned.

  • Initial maintenance contact for any unplanned Production Area shutdown, equipment failure, etc. Take action to expedite repairs and implement contingency plans if required.

  • Single point of contact for a process complex in the management of maintenance and reliability activities and work execution.

  • Maintains knowledge of the daily and weekly maintenance schedule.

  • Maintains knowledge of area backlogs.

  • Exercises cost control to meet area budgets.

  • Looks at progress of jobs daily with a goal of minimizing hold overs.

  • Understands maintenance metrics and is accountable to drive improved performance.

  • Helps coordinate central crafts interaction in their areas.

  • Willing and able to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shifts on an as-needed basis

People Development/Team Building: The Facilities Supervisor is accountable to develop teamwork inclusive of individual crafts and operations utilizing “Leading the Vision” and other tools.

  • Responsible for developing effective maintenance/operations teams.

  • Responsible for educating area business team members and crafts of how their roles fit into the business so they are fully engaged in the business.

  • Willingness to address people, practices, and status-quo issues that result in poor productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license

  • 5 years of experience of commercial/industrial facilities maintenance.

  • 2 years of supervisory experience of commercial/industrial facilities maintenance.


  • 10 years of experience in a refining setting

  • 5 years of supervisory experince in refining

  • General knowledge of Alliance Refinery Procedures.

  • Knowledge of maintenance processes and practices pertaining to facilities maintenance; e.g. HVAC, plumbing, etc.

  • Experience with budget management

  • Ability to coordinate multiple issues and prioritize/ delegate them appropriately given competing HS&E concerns (i.e. compliance items), business, and personnel needs.

  • Effective collaboration skills. The ability to work with and incorporate ideas of other organizations (i.e. safety, maintenance, environmental).

  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Intermediate proficiency using SAP

  • Ability to foster and promote teamwork, creativity, innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Good written and oral communication skills and comfortable presenting

The Alliance Refinery is located on the Mississippi River in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, approximately 25 miles southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana. The singletrain facility includes crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization, aromatics and delayed coking units. It processes mainly light and medium, low-sulfur crude oil. The refinery receives domestic crude oil through a combination of pipelines, marine transportation and terminals. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, home heating oil and anodegrade petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers in the southeastern and eastern United States through major pipeline systems and by barge. Refined products are exported primarily to Latin America by waterborne cargo.
