  • Assist in the administration of environmental compliance programs, which include the leak detection and repair (LDAR) program, and the benzene waste operations NESHAP (BWON) program
  • Assist with investigation of excursions, and prepare of compliance reports
  • Prepare, analyze and maintain records
  • Work with a variety of personnel, including professional staff, operational and mechanical union employees, regulatory personnel, and public interest groups
  • With support of senior staff, represent our Suncor Energy U.S.A. businesses before local, state and federal agencies, as well as public groups
  • Participate in corporate support activities as needed
  • Assist in studies, analyses, interpretations, and give recommendations and conclusions relating to assigned projects
  • Use industry contacts as an information source; keep current with industry technologies and trends

Required Qualifications

 

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of relevant environmental experience in consulting or direct industry operations
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science
  • A confirmed ability to positively handle conflict and influence decisions at multiple levels of the organization
  • Excellent collaboration skills that enable you to build strong and positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Flawless verbal and written communication skills in order to facilitate internal and external communication regarding complex regulatory and process-related topics
  • Alignment with our values

Preference for:

  • Petroleum refinery experience with a strong background in industrial operations
  • Database experience, preferably in Guideware
  • Experience with specific environmental programs such as LDAR and/or BWON
  • Experience with environmental data management systems
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Projects)
  • General familiarity with a broad range of environmental regulatory requirements
  • The ability to remain organized and work efficiently and prioritize multiple tasks/request from diverse groups of people

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Denver Refinery Business Center, located at 5455 Brighton Blvd
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • You thrive in a dynamic environment and will experience short periods of high stress levels due to the wide variety of issues, short deadlines, frequently changing priorities, and interaction with business, regulatory, and public entities that may require attention at a time
