Engineer, Reliability Fleet

Reporting to the manager, haul trucks reliability, you will provide support for a fleet of approximately 1100 units which include light vehicles, boom trucks, fire and fuel trucks and other support equipment on site. You will provide recommendations and data that drive improvement in our fleet maintenance and reliability through the use of the various fleet information sources.


  • Follow all our environment health and safety policies, standards and procedures
  • Utilize reliability engineering techniques such as reliability centered maintenance and  failure mode effects analysis, through the implementation of condition based monitoring, including oil analysis, thermography, non-destructive testing NDT, planned preventive maintenance and maintenance practices
  • Develop technical work scopes, and provide technical guidance and solutions to the maintenance group
  • Identify and address bad actors, and  perform failure and incident investigations
  • Use root cause analysis methods for asset and process failure elimination
  • Develop equipment strategies using reliability engineering tools to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Steward cross-boundary relationships with our maintenance and operation teams
  • Evaluate the performance trends of our fleet  and provide recommendations to define the key performance indicator (KPI) targets to gauge fleet performance and opportunities
  • Measure the actual fleet performance against the business targets, provide gap analysis and make continuous improvement recommendations to improve fleet capability, safety and operability
  • Assist in regulatory compliance regarding roll over protection systems, pressure vessels, stands etc.

Required Qualifications

 
  • Five or more years of experience in fleet performance assessment such as risk identification, quantification and ranking, business needs analysis and forecasting, and statistical and fleet analysis
  • Experience with mine mobile equipment maintenance or reliability engineering is an asset
  • Bachelor degree in mechanical, electrical or automotive engineering
  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration with the association of professional engineers and geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a professional engineer
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving

  • Strong focus on safety, integrity and reliability
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with a working knowledge of SAP, Livelink and Meridium
  • Well-developed critical thinking, with an ability to apply logic and challenge assumptions
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze data, conduct root cause assessment, and present conclusions and recommendations
  • A positive and passionate personality, with the natural ability to effectively communicate with others, and work well in a dynamic and diverse team environment
  • Highly motivated self-starter who make decisions with integrity and support company objectives and policies

Working Conditions

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
