Reporting to the lead, reliability integrity, the In-Situ pipelines and tanks integrity engineer is responsible for sustainment and optimization of the pipeline and tank integrity management programs for In-Situ in conjunction with quality assurance, operations and maintenance.


  • Handle sustainment and optimization of inspection and maintenance strategies for pipelines and tanks including the risk based inspection programs.
  • Act as responsible and integrity engineer for assigned assets and areas
  • Determine specific inspection requirements and the required frequency of inspection for each piece of equipment based on corrosion hazard analysis, inspection history information and sound engineering judgement
  • Interpret inspection results, complete integrity assessments, implement recommendations and adjust inspection strategies as part of the integrity management evergreen process
  • Act as subject matter expert for pipelines and tanks integrity management including design, codes of construction and inspection, regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Conduct or support root cause failure analysis as required for deviations or equipment failures and drive effective corrective actions to closure
  • Support projects, regulatory and operations/maintenance groups to validate commitments for integrity management and ensure the commitments are adhered to
  • Perform ongoing maintenance of regulatory compliance and communication with regulators through the environmental health and safety/regulatory groups

Required Qualifications

 
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in the oil and gas industry within asset integrity and reliability of facilities and pipelines
  • Experience working with time and risk based inspections and related software
  • Bachelor's degree in materials, metallurgy, or mechanical engineering
  • Professional Engineering designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)

  • Extensive knowledge of industry codes and standards relating to oil and gas pipelines and tanks (API, CSA, ASME)
  • Good understanding of Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) compliance requirements including CSA Z662 and AER directives for pipelines and tanks
  • Strong ability to resolve complex technical issues and provide sound engineering recommendations with thorough evaluation of options, costs, benefits, risks and impacts
  • Exceptional team player and is able to work effectively, collaboratively and achieve results within highly cross functional working groups
  • Results oriented, driven to achieve successful outcomes and has a continuous improvement mindset

Working Conditions

  • This position is based in Calgary, Alberta with occasional travel to the Fort McMurray area
