In this role, you will work under the direction of the leader, project group, as well as under the leadership of the head of the instrumentation group. You will join a multidisciplinary team that is responsible for producing a portfolio of projects and technical support for the refinery.

  • Carry out complete instrumentation projects (charter, specifications, site directive, drawings, lists, data sheet, functional description, etc.)
  • Ensure that studies produced internally and by consulting engineers meet Suncor Energy's standards and requirements and are safe, reliable, appropriate, timely and cost effective
  • Work closely with instrumentation technicians of the project team
  • Work in collaboration with the other departments of the refinery
  • Identify opportunities to improve the technical quality of engineering work, practices, work methods and project process
  • Plan, organize and complete complex and advanced technical studies
  • Participate in pre-startup reviews (identification of deficiencies, recommendations and approval)

Required Qualifications

  • Three to seven years’ experience in instrumentation in the field of consulting, refineries, petrochemicals, or heavy industry
  • Experience in distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, instrument-controlled systems, process instrumentation, gas detection systems and various analyzers, valve selection (control, on-off) and other instruments depending on process conditions
  • Member of the OIQ (able to seal or authenticate engineering documents) in electrical engineering or automated production

  • Bilingualism essential (French and English)
  • Knowledge of industry standards and experience in risk analysis an asset
  • Organized, meticulous, detail-oriented and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set priorities and to manage time efficiently
  • Have the desire to constantly learn
