Fuels Technology as part of the new Technology Organization in Projects & Technology provides fuels technology innovation, integration expertise and support to the Downstream businesses of Shell.
Within Fuels Technology the Operations group has the responsibility for Engine & Vehicle Testing, Marine & Power Testing, Fuels Blending, Analytical Laboratories and New Energies Applications Testing.

For this organization, we are currently looking for an Engineer Battery Technology to join our team in Hamburg.

What is the role about?
Batteries are rapidly becoming more reliable and cheaper. Though automotive & consumer applications of batteries are driving much of current technology developments, stationary applications are gaining ground, since they can cover a large range of applications, i.e. capacity adequacy, system reliability and network services.

The work of the Engineer Battery Technology will be embedded in the evaluation of stationary battery technologies at Shell Technology Center Hamburg.

As an Engineer your activities will include:
*assessing operational performance of different battery technologies with regards to capacity, power, efficiency, durability, degradation
*developing and applying measures to test battery modules under critical conditions
*investigating in long duration load cycle testing and modelling

Besides this, it will also be your responsibility to make sure that the obtained test results will be incorporated in the translation of technical requirements on energy storage systems for different use cases, into selected applicable test protocols for battery characterization and charging/dis-charging strategies.

This role is a perfect starting point to move into a leadership role in time. We are therefore looking for candidates who have the ambition to (further) develop their leadership skills.
