This position serves to provide environmental technical expertise to the site to enable the Sarnia Manufacturing Centre to influence and advocate for government and regulatory policies, regulations, and legislation in Ontario and to align the intent of these regulations with the overall SMC business objectives.

Reporting to the Health,Safety,Security and Environment (HSSE) Manager, this position serves as the regulatory policy advisor on all regulatory issues pertaining to the Sarnia Manufacturing Centre and the Sarnia Chemical Plant. A key aspect of the role will be to provide technical input including modelling, technical analysis, and options evaluation to help establish Sarnia’s regulatory positions and responses to federal, provincial, or local government agencies and legislative proposals related to our current business and desired future direction.

The role engages and supports internally with all levels of the business, interfaces regularly with government relations, communications and regulatory and environmental compliance counterparts, and can engage at times externally with key stakeholders, including industry, trade associations, alliances, and coalitions.
