Reporting to manager, fine tailings, you will develop and optimize sustaining mine and tailings projects by working directly with project leads, execution, operations, and technical teams.


  • Interface extensively with oil sands operations and execution teams to facilitate information gathering, analyze multiple options, socialize concepts, and gain alignment for decisions in support of the business plan strategies
  • Translate and implement our asset development execution model (ADEM) process throughout the business
  • Work with integrated teams to comprehensively define problems and opportunities
  • Analyze options, build, and ultimately complete concept selection and design, ensuring stakeholder alignment throughout the projects
  • Support the inputs to the long range capital plan and annual capital budget
  • Build and deliver stewardship to stakeholders and management, supported by integrated project teams

Required Qualifications

 
  • Ten or more years of experience leading or coordinating cross-functional groups and/or experience in mine and tailings work
  • Development, project management and/or regulatory experience is an asset
  • Post-secondary education; engineering degree is preferred

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to manage conflict with strong decision making processes to optimize outcomes
  • You are a creative problem solver and have the ability to respectfully challenge constraints and assumptions
  • You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • You act with integrity and hold others accountable, while expecting others to do the same

Working Conditions

  • This position is based in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre but the work could also be performed in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The work schedule is Monday to Friday
