Reporting to the maintenance support services (MSS) manager for services in electrical and instrumentation, insulation, and rope access, you will be accountable for the safe and cost effective function of the MSS department by coordinating with business units to supply a safe and competent workforce.

  • Contribute in the future development and improvement of the workforce
  • Review future business unit demand, optimize headcount and allocate the craft to the correct areas
  • Assist the manager in contractor performance management
  • Lead the contract execution of planned and unplanned requirements within direct area of responsibility in a safe, efficient, and cost effective way
  • Assist in managing contracts and the professional relationship to ensure safety, cost, service, and quality requirements
  • Liaise with operations and maintenance planning to prioritize, schedule, and resource all work of the group
  • Monitor contractor performance by developing technical key performance indicators and driving performance against these; address any deviation from targets or defective work through the implementation of corrective actions and programs
  • Ensure contractors stay within the contracts Statement of Work parameters to manage scope creep and ensure scope changes are incorporated into the contract before new work commences
  • Provide input into the business plan to reliably meet or exceed performance expectations in safety, environment, cost, and productivity
  • Ensure all health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards are upheld, monitor the effective application of programs, and address actions arising from HSE audits
  • Ensure the contractor has records of required training and development for their team available at all times

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience working in mining, oil and gas, or similar industrial environment; oil sands/petrochemical experience is preferred
  • Supervisory, planning or scheduling experience in an industrial maintenance setting would be an asset
  • A trade certificate, technical diploma or degree in a relevant technical field (e.g. engineering) or equivalent operational experience
  • Rope access level 2 or higher is an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • High level of business or commercial acumen with the ability to manage costs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build effective working relationships across diverse groups
  • Strong dedication to environment, health and safety, and leading by example
  • Business minded with strong judgment, decision-making, and analytical skills

Working Conditions

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
