Reporting to the team leader, learning maintenance, you will develop and implement strategies to manage competency for our Upstream maintenance personnel in an efficient and effective way.   You will actively working with our maintenance leaders and hands on workers through all stages of competency management: conducting needs assessment; developing learning interventions and appropriate delivery methods; building evaluation and implementation strategies.

  • Execute the seamless delivery of maintenance, safety and orientation training, as well as  competency assessments both in-class and in the field
  • Steward to the competency management process for all hands-on maintenance employees including trades, apprentices and non-ticketed occupations
  • Conduct learning needs analysis based on job, task or content analysis
  • Write statements of performance objectives based on specific learning outcomes
  • Facilitate the task analysis process by working with subject matter experts to determine the scope and range of positions
  • Support appropriate systems to measure key performance indicators in regards to team and client progress
  • Maintain accurate records and follow established processes for transferring knowledge: reporting, stewardship, monitoring, record-keeping and archiving of training and development related information
  • Align to process and technology to accomplish goals and accountabilities
  • Implement strategies to support change and continuous improvement initiatives at all levels of the organization

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of hands-on experience in a mechanical trade with demonstrable experience in coaching, developing or training others on equipment
  • Ten or more years of industrial experience ideally in oil and gas
  • University degree or equivalent college diploma or trade certificate; certification in adult education is an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • Understanding of industrial maintenance practices, processes and programs
  • Solid understanding of SAP or related experience in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • You establish collaborative and interpersonal working relationships with your team, peers and client groups to enable effective delivery of objectives
  • Attention to detail and a dedication to consistency and quality

Working Conditions

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
