Construction Coordinator

Job Overview

Are you a strong project coordinator with a proven history in construction management? Reporting to the construction superintendent, you will be responsible for the translation of information from the projects team to execution, including developing work packages and constructability reviews to align with industry standards and contractor management guidelines.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply construction management principles to project construction execution plans, construction interface and integration management
  • Assist in the development and/or review of execution plans prior to the start of work
  • Serve as the focal point to align the field execution team and coordinate daily and weekly work activities to meet operational goals
  • Provide field assurance that structures are being constructed safely and efficiently, according to plans, schedules and specifications, with a sense of urgency and proactive management of operational risks
  • Work with field execution team to discuss issues and opportunities related to progress, material shortages, resource loading, safety concerns, and design discrepancies that could have an effect on the quality and safety of completing the work
  • Steward the progress of contractor management packages to the construction superintendent 
  • Interact with the execution superintendent to ensure weekly plans are aligned and execution team is set up properly, including documents to manage daily execution in field
  • Provide cross-shift alignment, improving work execution, safety and efficiency
  • Maintain logs and files of all construction field documents and verification plans

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Eight to ten years of combined field and project management experience
  • Experience with contractor interfacing and management
  • Experience with the construction execution processes for civil field work
  • Technical diploma or degree specializing in engineering
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record  

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project scheduling software
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills to effectively communicate with employees and contractors, as well as write or review technical documents and prepare work packages
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset
  • You are a highly motivated, self-starter who possesses strong social skills with diverse groups, and are able to contribute effectively in a team environment
  • You value integrity and hold others accountable and expect others to do the same

Working Conditions

  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
