For our team we are currently looking for a Commercial Lead - New Products, based in Hamburg.

What is the role about?

The post holder will be a key member of the Contracts & Procurement (C&P) Downstream & New Energy Technology Delivery function. The four key pillars of Technology Delivery are:

  • Differentiation through exploitation of market opportunities– deep understanding of the suppliers, market trends, competitive landscape and introduce opportunities arising from external marketplace including co-innovation and the further externalization of Technology
  • Business partnering – deep connect with the business, understand business priorities and opportunities and the Technology Strategy for area, own relationship with TOMs, and championing the commercial mindset throughout the Technology Development and Procurement Cycles.
  • Leverage One C&P – engage the C&P Category Center of Excellence and Asset/Project teams with an interest or delivery role in area of Technology covered. Develop joint deployment and opportunity roadmaps, influencing category strategies as required or bringing category knowledge into the technology arena.
  • Commercial Powerhouse – Deliver compelling commercial strategies and best in class commercial deals that drive value, lower cost, improve productivity or “Fail Fast where appropriate”
In this role your key accountabilities will be:

  • Develop commercially competitive Contracting & Procurement strategies for assigned key spend categories which meets the business demand while taking into account potential implementation of global strategies at local/regional level.
  • Conduct tenders, evaluate bids & drive negotiations with suppliers in accordance to the CMC&P as an overall ‘guidance’.
  • Ensure delivery and effectively manage contracts while continuously drive value improvement targets.
  • Identify, develop and implement supply chain improvement opportunities.
You will provide extensive coaching, support and guidance to other team members to ensure delivery of results where possible and build effective working relationships with others and makes a constructive contribution within immediate team.
Commercial Technology Delivery includes the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing technology sourcing activity in compliance with CMC&P
  • Engage with commercialization Centre of Excellence (CoE) post initial Demand Management to progress Technology Sourcing Strategy. Agree with Commercialization CoE Manager further scope of involvement for Commercialization CoE.
  • Take the lead role in E2E creation and delivery of the Technology Sourcing Strategy
  • Provide training and focus on upskilling improve the collective commercial skill set, driving more commerciality in the Technology Organization and improve quality of commercial decision making.
  • Focal point for Technology VPship and custodian of C&P/Technology relationship
  • Create a virtual team with appropriate C&P Category members to validate potential Technology opportunities identified by suppliers, T&I, Categories or the Technology Organization
  • Align and prioritize Technology delivery opportunities, create implementation/commercialization strategy and capture cross C&P learning/best practice opportunities. Create Virtual CP teams in area of responsibility for progressing or failing fast identified opportunities, delivering through others and leveraging existing commercial frameworks and category strategies.
  • Drive the creation of the Sourcing Strategy for each Technology opportunity. Work with the CDM’s/TOMs as appropriate to facilitate this in the optimum way and ensure this occurs at the earliest possible opportunity. Revisit the assumptions and strategy on a regular basis to keep abreast of market movements and Shell’s strategy.
  • Identify common categories of spend across the Technology portfolio. Create Category Strategies and look for value, service and cost improvement opportunities, drive to completion. Initially identified categories.
  • Engage with the Legal Intellectual Property team to seek to make full use of Shell’s IP through monetization, de-risking, leverage and licensing opportunities.
