What's the role?
To assist the Maintenance Supervisor (MS) in the task to provide leadership and direction to the
Maintenance Group in the Production Unit (PU). This group is tasked with maintaining assets in a fit-for purpose condition at optimal costs, such that the required reliability and availability are assured. Also
the Assistant Maintenance supervisor acts as the direct replacement of the MS in his/her absence. To
support the effective utilization of the GAME standards of Maintenance Execution, such as proper work
preparation and scheduled task execution. To lead the monthly cost control process.
Overall the purpose of the AMS is to increase the efficiency of the maintenance processes and strategy
using continuous improvement techniques in order to get maximum value for the available budget.
 
Accountabilities
Responsible for the efficient execution of all multidisciplinary maintenance (breakdown / preventive /
programmed) for the unit, emphasis on technically sound, cost- and manpower efficient and HS Compliant
execution of all activities. Besides, the AMS accountabilities differ per department depending on business need and the background of the AMS. Typically, the accountabilities of the AMS are including (but not limited to)
  • Improve and standardize maintenance processes and strategy across site (Improvement Agent).
  • Monitor and follow up of the bad actor improvement process.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and production year plan.
  • Member of or lead incident investigations teams.
  • Leader of the monthly cost control process
  • Participates in turn-arounds. (Typical: flawless, field supervisor, blok / area leader)
  • Project lead for plant changes and small projects executed by RMS.
  • Facilitate to the development of the maintenance budget and multi-year plan.
  • Coordinate continuous budget control
  • Replace the maintenance supervisor while he is absent

Position comment
This role would be an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable experience in an asset, for employees in
Projects, Turn Arounds and Engineering disciplines. The role will give a solid grounding in a brown field
refinery with green field projects. The role is a step up to the leadership roles in the Shell organization
within and outside the refinery. The role will provide an exposure that will give a candidate a better
understanding of how a refinery really works technically and socially. This will help de candidate in all
future roles.
