Reporting to the manager, portfolio planning and analysis, you will provide support and analysis to the project portfolio management team and translate financial and project health data into information, to support communication of risks and opportunities throughout the oil sands project portfolio.

  • Working with finance, compile monthly and quarterly project stewardship analysis and presentation materials for communication to oil sands leadership and senior leaders throughout the organization

  • Prepare weekly authorization for expenditure summary reports for senior leaders
  • Prepare biweekly materials for portfolio check prereads, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information, develop and communicate administrative revisions, document actions and decisions and support the finalization of information in advance of the authorization for expenditure (AFE) launch
  • Participate in the preparation of budget and business plan, including analysis, presentation material development, communication and support
  • Work closely with the business areas to develop a deep understanding of risks and opportunities in the portfolio, both current year and 10 year business plan
  • Participate in the testing of the enterprise portfolio management tool, training and support roll-out. Support the existing data clean-up and migration to the new tool
  • Complete additional analysis and other projects as required

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in portfolio management, financial or project control and/or strategy
  • Oil and gas industry experience is preferred
  • Business or technical degree or diploma

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills and understanding of cost control systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • SAP experience is preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, manage conflict and have strong decision making processes to optimize outcomes is critical and is key to success in this role
  • Ability to successfully work under tight deadlines
  • You hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same
